Just Because I Have a Vagina…

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean I love cooking.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean I care about how clean my house is.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean I only want to watch romantic comedies.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean I need to keep my hair a certain length, so you know that I have a vagina.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean that I know any more about raising these kids than the person I live with who has a penis.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean I don’t love beer and swearing.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean I don’t have a sense of humor, I do and many other people with vaginas do to.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean I don’t want to get paid for the work I do, fairly.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean I love breastfeeding or that it was easy for me. It wasn’t and I hated it.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean that I don’t understand those who have penises or I think that those with penises are dumb or don’t understand me.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean I like make up or jewelry. Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don’t… like any other human being.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean I don’t find farting, pooping or burping funny. I do, I can’t help it.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean I want to wear uncomfortable shoes and clothes to prove how much of a vagina I have.

Just because I have a vagina doesn’t mean that I don’t get my period. In fact, that’s one thing those with vaginas have to deal with because they have vaginas. We didn’t ask for it. We don’t like it. Please stop making us feel ashamed about something we have no control over.

Just because I have a vagina just means a have a vagina… that’s it. Nothing else.

If you stop judging my daughter and I by our genitals, I’ll stop judging you by yours.
